A short guide to mixed doubles curling
CALGARY – A quick look at mixed doubles curling:
— A team is composed of two players, one male and one female. Scoring and ice are the same as in regular curling.
— Each team has 46 minutes of playing time over eight ends instead of a traditional curling game of 73 minutes over 10 ends.
— To start each end, a stone is pre-positioned on the button and an opposing stone is positioned in front of the house as a cente guard. Both rocks are considered in play.
— Each team throws five stones per end. One player delivers the first and fifth stones, while the teammate throws the second, third and fourth.
— No stone in play can be removed prior to the fourth stone thrown in an end.
