
Two B.C. men charged with first-degree murder in Williams Lake killing
WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. – Two men have been charged with first-degree murder following the death of a man from British Columbia's southern Interior.
The RCMP says the body of 34-year-old Branton Regner was recovered from the Fraser River near Williams Lake on Aug. 27, just over two weeks after he was reported missing following an alleged incident on the Rudy Johnson Bridge.
An RCMP statement says 25-year-old Jayson Gilbert and 23-year-old Michael Drynock were charged with murder Wednesday.
Police say Gilbert and Drynock also face single counts of attempted murder and kidnapping.
They are scheduled to appear in provincial court in Williams Lake on all the charges Sept. 25.
The statement says the RCMP investigation is ongoing.
