The Westaim Corp. (TSX:WED). Financial holding company. Down 75 cents, or 96.15 per cent, at three cents on 15,634,860 shares.

Mercator Minerals Ltd. (TSX:ML). Miner. Down five cents, or 8.20 per cent. at 56 cents on 8,641,018 shares.

Continental Gold Ltd. (TSX:CNL). Miner. Up $1.09, or 12.37 per cent, at $9.90 on 6,212,320 shares.

Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TSX:TXG). Miner. Unchanged at $2.12 on 5,379,689 shares.

Research In Motion (TSX:RIM). Wireless technology. Up 17 cents, or 2.26 per cent, at $7.69 on 5,050,012 shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Up 86 cents, or 3.99 per cent, at $22.39 on 4,366,179 shares.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,338.70, up 4.19 points):

ShaMaran Petroleum Corp. (TSXV:SNM). Oil and gas. Up 4.5 cents, or 10.34 per cent, at 48 cents on 10,618,154 shares.

Petroamerica Oil Corp. (TSXV:PTA). Oil and gas. Up 2.5 cents, or 11.90 per cent, at 23.5 cents on 2,869,840 shares.

Agrium Inc. (TSX:AGU). Miner. Up $1.69, or 1.66 per cent, at $103.69 on 757,064 shares. The boss of New York hedge fund boss pushing for changes at fertilizer giant Agrium spoke publicly about the fight for the first time today. Barry Rosenstein, founder of Jana partners LLC, made a presentation at an investment conference in New York.

SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. (TSX:SNC). Engineering. Down 35 cents, or 0.92 per cent, at $37.60 on 683,521 shares. The first day of any job is usually marked by hope and promise, but SNC-Lavalin’s new CEO, American import Robert Card, couldn’t escape the company’s problematic past as a report surfaced about millions of dollars in questionable payments made in its own backyard in Montreal.
