Illegal cannabis grow op busted in Keremeos

KEREMEOS – More than 500 plants were seized in an RCMP raid of a marijuana growing operation in Cawston.

According to an RCMP media release, an investigation into the illicit cannabis facility has gone on for a few months. A search warrant was executed Sept. 24 at the VLA Road property.

The facility was growing a large amount of cannabis without licencing from Health Canada, the RCMP said.

A man in his 50s was arrested at the facility and was later released from custody.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are being recommended to the BC Prosecution Service.
