Boundary Similkameen Liberal MLA John Slater would rather fight than switch

OSOYOOS, B.C. – Boundary-Similkameen Liberal MLA John Slater says he will run again in the next provincial election.

Slater spent the summer mulling his options and says he is sticking with the Liberals.

He was first elected in 2009, after serving two terms at mayor of Osoyoos, B.C., and several terms as a councillor in that southern Okanagan town.

Slater announced Sunday that he had decided to run in the 2013 general election but says he is waiting for his riding association to make the announcement official later this week.

Since August, several senior Liberal MLAs and cabinet ministers have announced they will not seek re-election.

They include former finance minister Kevin Falcon and former education minister George Abbott. (CKOR)
