Stolen hard drive contains 3 years of irreplaceable UBCO research
KELOWNA – A woman didn't just lose her physical property in a recent theft, she lost three years of research for UBC Okanagan and now police are asking the public to help get it back.
Mounties were told of the theft in the 1100 block of Research Road at the UBC Okanagan Campus Nov. 28, according to a media release. Police believe it was likely taken when the office was left unlocked for a brief period.
The hard drive has a monetary value of roughly $140, but to the owner, the research contained is invalueable which makes the device irreplaceable. The woman is hoping whoever has it didn't dump the information and it can be returned to her intact.
The device is a 500GB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex portable hard drive.
