Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf out week-to-week with upper-body injury

TORONTO – Toronto Maple Leafs coach Peter Horachek said captain Dion Phaneuf is week-to-week with an upper-body injury sustained prior to the all-star break.

The Maple Leafs confirmed the defenceman’s injury on their Twitter account.

Phaneuf has two goals and 20 assists along with a minus-4 rating in 48 games this season.

His injury is another blow to the struggling Leafs, who have lost six games in a row and 14 of their last 17.

Toronto is 10 points out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
