Driver flees after car crashes with train in Shuswap

CANOE – Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that collided with a train in the Shuswap this morning.

RCMP Sgt. Scott West said the crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 at the 50th Street NE crossing in Canoe.

"We did have a vehicle versus (train) collision in Canoe," West said. "The driver of the car fled the scene."

CP Police has taken the lead in the investigation.

There is no word on the cause of the accident or any resulting injuries.
