UPDATE: Jan. 30, 2013 – 10:23 a.m.
The driver of a truck that slid out of control and into Wood Lake this morning was found cold, wet and uninjured.
Lake Country RCMP say the flatbed pick-up hit a slushy section just north of Oceola Road on Hwy 97 at around 4:45 a.m. First responders attended the scene and found the truck grill first in the lake with its lights still on. Nobody was inside the truck or nearby.
Police found the owner of the vehicle walking along the highway near the Lake Country Inn. The 35-year-old Lake Country man was the only person in the truck at the time of the accident.
Jan. 30, 2013 – 10:01 a.m.
An early morning crash along Hwy 97 north of Oceola Road kept emergency crews busy pulling a pick-up truck out of Wood Lake. Nobody died in the single vehicle accident. Roads were slushy and slippery at the time the truck left the road. The highway is now open to traffic in both directions.
DriveBC is reporting compact snow with slushy, slippery sections throughout the Okanagan today.
