TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,447.68 up 88.21 points):

Sulliden Gold Corp. Ltd. (TSX:SUE). Miner. Up 14 cents, or 15.05 per cent, at $1.07 on 12,940,408 shares.

Calmena Energy Services Inc. (TSX:CEZ). Oilfield services. Unchanged at 20 cents on 8,415,000 shares. The energy sector rose 0.57 per cent to 262.68 points, as the price of November crude oil climbed US$3.57 to $91.71 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Progress Energy Resources Corp. (TSX:PRQ). Oil and gas. Down nine cents, or 0.41 per cent, at $21.79 on 6,437,959 shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up 57 cents, or 5.53 per cent, at $10.88 on 6,092,973 shares. The gold sector advanced 1.59 per cent to 5.49 points, buoyed by a jump of US$16.70 to $1,796.50 per ounce on the December bullion contract.

Osisko Mining Corp. (TSX:OSK). Miner. Down six cents, or 0.61 per cent, at $9.84 on 5,412,818 shares.

New Gold Inc. (TSX:NGD). Miner. Up 18 cents, or 1.49 per cent, at $12.26 on 5,322,839 shares.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,340.85 up 15.63 points):

Pinecrest Energy Inc. (TSXV:PRY). Oil and gas. Up 15 cents, or 8.07 per cent, at $1.74 on 5,420,405 shares.

Hana Mining Ltd. (TSXV:HMG). Mining exploration and development. Up 4.5 cents, or 10.84 per cent, at 46 cents on 3,583,167 shares.

Companies reporting major news:

CAE Inc. (TSX:CAE). Flight simulator. Down seven cents, or 0.66 per cent, at $10.46 on 568,036 shares. The flight simulator maker sold six new simulators to customers in Asia and North America, plus updates for a number of customers for a total value of $85 million at list prices.

Nexen Inc. (TSX:NXY). Oil and gas. Down 23 cents, or 0.91 per cent, at $24.99 on 473,378 shares. Prime Minister Stephen Harper weighed in on China’s state-owned offshore oil company’s $15-billion bid for Nexen, saying the deal “raises a range of difficult policy questions.”

SNC-Lavalin (TSX:SNC). Engineering and construction. Up 56 cents, or 1.49 per cent, at $38.25 on 229,395 shares. The Montreal-based company has been awarded a contract by IC Potash Corp. (TSX:ICP) to develop key sections of a feasibility study for its Ochoa Sulphate of Potash project in New Mexico. No value was provided.
