Rockets run out of fuel in battle against Cougars

KELOWNA – The Prince George Cougars defeated the Kelowna Rockets 5-3 on Tuesday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna as goaltender Ty Edmonds turned in a spectacular performance for the Cougars in the win.

The Rockets outshot Prince George 48-20 in the game, but trailed from early in the first and could never get back on even terms as Edmonds was named first star in the win.

The Cougars scored twice in the first eight minutes of the game, including just 1:24 into the first period, to take the lead. Despite outshooting Prince George 21-3 in the period, the Rockets trailed 2-1 with Riley Stadel scoring the Rockets goal.

Prince George led 4-2 after two periods of play as the Cougars scored twice in the second, sandwiching a Justin Kirkland goal.

In the third, the team's exchanged goals with Rourke Chartier scoring late but Prince George earned the 5-3 win.

The Rockets now move on to a Friday night game in Kamloops before they host Prince George again on Saturday.
