Rapper Pitbull says he’ll root for, and then perform for, the Patriots after the Super Bowl

PHOENIX – Pitbull has thrown his Super Bowl allegiance to the New England Patriots.

The platinum-selling rapper will perform at the team’s after-party on Sunday.

The Miami native made a brief appearance on actress Jenny McCarthy’s SiriusXM show on Friday and paused before answering who he was rooting for on Sunday.

When McCarthy’s husband Donnie Wahlberg brought up his Boston roots, Pitbull quickly threw his support behind the Patriots.

Pitbull has been in huge demand lately, performing at the World Cup opening ceremony, hosting the American Music Awards and wedging his Super Bowl performances around his concert tour. He is scheduled to perform Friday night in Las Vegas.

He may have some company onstage at the Patriots party.

McCarthy volunteered the services of her actor-singer husband for a duet.
