Huge month for South Okanagan home sales

PENTICTON – Things are looking up in the South Okanagan real estate market as sales and sales volume rose significantly last month.

The South Okanagan Real Estate board reports September total residential sales increased by 42 per cent, from 140 units sold in September, 2018 to 198 units sold this September.

Total sales volume also rose by 47 per cent, from $60,977,338 in September 2018 to $89,474,730 this September.

Total active listing for September, 2019 were up 7.25 per cent to 2085 from 1,944 in September, 2018.

“Home sales continued to strengthen in September, coming in well above the same month last year,” South Okanagan Real Estate Board President Dori Lionello said.

Supply and demand is also well balanced and prices are on track for a gain in line with the overall consumer price inflation, Lionello said.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
