
It’s a pumpkin kind of weekend
This Thanksgiving long weekend is packed with pumpkins, bratwurst and scares. Make your way through Kamloops and the Okanagan to find some delicious and scary things to do this weekend.
KAMLOOPS
Bring your kids or loved ones this holiday weekend to Harper’s Trail Estate Winery.
Stock up on your pumpkins for Halloween before it’s too late on Saturday, October 12 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. This is a first come first picked as quantities are limited. Cash only for the pumpkin patch where you can get two pumpkins for $10. There will be goody bags while supplies last, a bon fire and a fun Halloween themed photo booth.
No event is complete without complimentary wine tastings for the adults.
This will be a fantastic day for the family but all children must be supervised at all times during their visit.

This is not for the faint of heart. New for 2019, The Field of Screams will have a second location operating at Sunset Valley Farm Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12 from 6 to 11 p.m.
For those of you that are deathly afraid of clowns and scary carnivals, this event is not for you. Broken ride carnage, a haunted opera house, a life-sized ‘Jack in the Box’, spooky carnival tents and much more left to be a surprise.

VERNON
The pumpkins keep rolling.
Davison Orchards is hosting its Family Pumpkin Festival Friday, October 11 to Monday, October 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Take a ride out to the Pumpkin Patch and pick your favourite pumpkin right from the field. Visit the farm animals, run and play in the Crazy Cow Kids Corral, enjoy the fall displays, relax with a Pumpkin Steamer or Spiced Apple Cider, taste pumpkin cake, muffin or pie and listen to the music from the

This is a family must-see event on Sunday, October 13.
The Armstrong Demolition Derby takes to the Interior Provincial Exhibition grounds from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Come and watch the destruction of cars, trucks and minis. You’ll have a blast.

Pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins; you can’t escape them this long weekend.
The 19th Annual Harvest Pumpkin Festival happens this Saturday, October 12 at the Interior Provincial Fair grounds.
There will be the great pumpkin launch where participants will build a catapult, slingshot or trebuchet to send their pumpkins through the air towards the target. There are no restrictions in building an entry other than it must be people-powered.
Trials take place at 12:15 p.m.. Each team will receive five pumpkins to use for the trial. Pumpkins will be smaller than a soccer ball and about five pounds.
The launching begins at 1 p.m. with each team receiving another five pumpkins for the contest.
Also on Saturday, growers will be participating in the pumpkin weigh-in at 9 a.m. at the fairgrounds.

KELOWNA
Put on your best Bavarian outfit and head to The Laurel Packinghouse for Oktoberfest in Kelowna. The band Europa will provide the "Oompah-pah" and there will be German food and drink with plenty of bratwurst, beer, wine and shot skis.
Have fun while helping out a great cause as all proceeds go toward brain injury prevention, education and support services in the Okanagan.

While it's still warm enough, but with just the right amount of nip in the air and before the mild weather leaves us for good, come enjoy the Chute Lake Lodge tailgate movie night Saturday, October 12 at 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Take in a kids movie first and then a classic movie to finish off the evening.
Held in the lodge’s big field, this will be an outdoor drive-in style night. An inflatable screen and sound system will be set up and there will be burgers, fries and drinks delivered to your vehicle.
