LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Screenwriter and two-time Academy Award nominee Stewart Stern, who’s best known for writing the screenplay for Nicholas Ray’s “Rebel Without a Cause,” has died. He was 92.

The Writers Guild of America West says Stern died Monday at a Seattle, Washington, hospital after a battle with cancer.
