Bombardier, New United Group to tackle China market for rail signalling systems

MONTREAL – Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B) is setting up a new joint venture in China to sell integrated communications and signalling systems for mass transit rail systems.

The new joint venture will be owned 50-50 by the Montreal-based company through its Bombardier Transportation division and New United Group.

Bombardier and NUG have co-operated since 2003 through another joint venture focused on motors and control systems for locomotives in China.

NUG provides knowledge of the Chinese market and links with local authorities while Bombardier offers technical expertise as the world’s largest manufacturer of rail equipment for mass transit.

Bombardier NUG Signalling Solutions will have its headquarters in Changzhou, a city near Shanghai.
