Sam Smith, Kendrick Lamar, Hozier to headline new Ontario festival

TORONTO – West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar, Grammy-celebrated British crooner Sam Smith and “Take Me to Church” howler Hozier will headline the inaugural WayHome Music And Arts festival in Ontario this summer.

Alt-J and Modest Mouse are also among the marquee acts booked for the fest, to be held July 24-26 at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds just north of Barrie, Ont.

Run the Jewels, St. Vincent, Passion Pit, the Decemberists, Future Islands, Danny Brown and Sloan are also part of the lineup announced Wednesday.

Tickets go on sale Monday, with general admission passes starting at roughly $210.

That pass includes tent camping and full admission to all three days of the festival.

One campsite is provided per group and while they can hold up to eight people, organizers recommend four-to-six campers per site.

The festival is a collaboration between promoters Republic Live and AC Entertainment, co-founder of Tennessee’s popular Bonnaroo Music Festival.
