Patti LuPone and Michael Urie to star in new comedy ‘Shows for Days’ at Lincoln Center

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Patti LuPone is returning to the stage playing a crazed community theatre star in a new comedy by Douglas Carter Beane.

Lincoln Center Theater said Wednesday that the two-time Tony Award winner will star in “Show for Days” at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater starting June 6. LuPone will play a “an indomitable force of nature whose life is dedicated to putting on productions she directs, designs and stars in.”

The cast also includes “Ugly Betty” and “Buyer and Cellar” star Michael Urie as the play’s narrator and Dale Soules, a veteran of “Hands on a Hardbody,” will be featured as a member of the theatre troupe. Jerry Zaks will direct.

Beane is the Tony-nominated author of “The Nance,” ”The Little Dog Laughed,” ”Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella” and “Sister Act.”
