Second-degree murder charge laid in death of Lillooet, B.C., resident

LILLOOET, B.C. – A 36-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder involving the death of a Lillooet, B.C., man on Tuesday.

Police responded to a report of a serious assault and found 61-year-old Gary Mandseth with life-threatening injuries inside a Lillooet home.

Mandseth later died of his injuries in hospital.

Jeffery Harris, also of Lillooet, was taken into custody shortly after the discovery of the injured man and now faces the murder charge.

Harris remains in custody and is expected to appear in Kamloops provincial court Feb. 23.

The RCMP Southeast District Major Crimes unit has taken over the investigation into the death.
