Bill Cosby postpones performance in California, latest in series of scrapped appearances

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Bill Cosby has postponed a comedy performance in Bakersfield, California, amid allegations of sexual abuse of women.

A message posted to the website of The Fox Theater states the Thursday night show has been postponed and the venue does not have a new date for the performance.

The theatre did not provide a reason and says it will provide refunds to ticketholders.

Cosby’s publicist David Brokaw did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment.

The 77-year-old Cosby has cancelled or postponed more than a dozen shows on his comedy tour in the wake of allegations by numerous women that they were sexually abused by the actor-comedian.

Many of the accusations fall outside the statute of limitations for criminal prosecution or lawsuits.

Bakersfield is about 90 minutes northwest of Los Angeles.
