Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Down 11 cents, or 4.09 per cent, to $2.58 on 14.8 million shares.

Belo Sun Mining Corp. (TSX:BSX). Miner. Up 3.5 cents, or 18.42 per cent, to 22.5 cents on 5.2 million shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Down 22 cents, or 5.90 per cent, to $3.51 on 4.7 million shares.

Surge Energy Inc. (TSX:SGY). Oil and gas. Down nine cents, or 2.70 per cent, to $3.24 on 3.9 million shares.

Lundin Mining Corp. (TSX:LUN). Miner. Up 32 cents, or 6.37 per cent, to $5.34 on 3.9 million shares.

Penn West Petroleum Ltd. (TSX:PWT). Oil and gas. Up two cents, or 0.66 per cent, to $3.04 on 3.7 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP). Oil and gas. Down $1.27, or 2.17 per cent, to $57.23 on 1.8 million shares. The Calgary-based company, which is trying to get approval for its stalled Keystone XL pipeline, reported comparable earnings at $511 million or 72 cents a share in its latest quarter, beating forecasts of 61 cents a share. It also upped its quarterly dividend eight per cent to 52 cents but now estimates its Keystone XL pipeline’s total cost will be US$8 billion, including US$2.4 billion spent as of the end of 2014.
