Earthquake strikes B.C. coast; ‘lightly felt’ in Sechelt and Nanaimo

VANCOUVER – A 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck the coast of British Columbia on Saturday night.

Earthquakes Canada says it hit at about 8:12 p.m. about 30 kilometres northeast of Sechelt, B.C.

The agency says it was lightly felt throughout the Sunshine Coast, from Sechelt to Powell River, as well as in Nanaimo.

There are no reports of damage, and none would be expected.
