Mounties bust illegal grow op in Kelowna

A search warrant West Kelowna RCMP executed on a residence in Joe Rich turned up a significant stash of pot.

Four men and two women were arrested at the scene and have been released from police custody and will appear in court at a later date.

“These types of investigations are laborious and our investigators worked tirelessly to secure the evidence,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Meghan Foster said in a press release. “Police officers seized $1,400 in cash, 95 pounds of dried marijuana bud and nearly 2,000 plants.”

Foster highlighted that the policing jurisdiction for Joe Rich is the West Kelowna RCMP and while the optics of this may pose a logistical hurdle for investigators, the results of yesterday should reassure the public that it is not.

Fortis B.C. was at the scene and cut the power to the area so that the police officers could safely seize the evidence.
