OpenText chief executive Mark Barrenechea diagnosed with leukemia

WATERLOO, Ont. – OpenText (TSX:OTC) says chief executive Mark Barrenechea has been diagnosed with leukemia and will reduce his involvement in the company for about the next 100 days as he receives treatment.

The business software company says a CEO operating committee has been set up to help manage the company’s day-to-day operations.

Barrenechea will remain chief executive and a director during his treatment and will continue to be involved in strategic decisions.

He joined the company in 2012 as president and chief executive.

Before taking the helm at OpenText, Barrenechea was president and chief executive of Silicon Graphics International Corp.
