OTTAWA – The Canadian Space Agency is getting a new president.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced that Sylvain Laporte will take over effective Mar. 9.
Laporte has a career in the public service that has lasted more than two decades, including with the Canadian military.
He is currently the Commissioner of Patents and Registrar of Trade-marks with Industry Canada.
Luc Brule, a vice-president of the space agency, has been acting in an interim role since last October when Walt Natynczyk, the former chief of defence staff, left the space agency to become deputy minister at Veteran’s Affairs.
