Great Dane breeder testifies in animal cruelty trial

WOLFEBORO, N.H. – A woman whose 84 Great Danes were seized from her New Hampshire home has testified in court that she took good care of the dogs.

WMUR-TV reports Christina Fay took the stand Tuesday in her own defence. She has pleaded not guilty to 12 misdemeanour animal cruelty charges.

Authorities say the dogs were found living in filth and suffering from sores and other health problems when they were seized from Fay’s Wolfeboro mansion in June.

Fay denies the charges and says she wouldn’t have decided to take care of the animals if she couldn’t give them all they needed. She told the judge that the dogs “are literally my reason for living.”

Fay also denies testimony from former employees that her house was filthy, saying she cleaned the floors regularly.
