UPDATE: Okanagan man dies in Vernon accident

VERNON – An Okanagan man is dead after a fatal accident on Highway 97 near Birnie Road.

RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says the man was driving a Subaru and veered into an oncoming truck around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. He died at the scene. A driver and passenger of the truck were taken to hospital with 'undetermined injuries,' he said. 

Police released no other information except that the Subaru driver was from the Okanagan.

The road was shut down until 6:15 p.m. 

North Okanagan Traffic Services and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating. An RCMP traffic analyst attended as well.
