Unifor workers vote 79% in favour of ratifying new 4-yr contract at CP Rail

TORONTO – Unionized workers at Canadian Pacific Railway who conduct safety inspections, as well as maintenance and repairs, have ratified a new four-year contract.

Unifor Local 101R said Monday that 79 per cent of the votes cast over a two-week period were in favour of the new collective agreement, reached Feb. 14 just before a strike deadline.

The contract includes wage increases in each year, improvements to benefits and a commitment to maintaining operations at the Winnipeg Weston facility, which employs 160 people.

Unifor Local 101R represents about 1,625 members at CP Rail.
