B.C. RCMP issue warrant for alleged ‘cat burglar’; suspect may be in Ontario

LANGLEY, B.C. – Vancouver-area RCMP have issued an arrest warrant for an alleged “cat burglar” who’s suspected in a series of break-ins last fall.

An RCMP news release says 19-year-old Greyszen Beszedes (GRAY-son bah-ZEE-DEES) is charged with five counts of break-and-enter and one count each of mischief, attempted theft and assault with a weapon.

He’s believed to have relocated to Ontario and police are asking for the public’s help in finding him.

Police say the burglaries took place last October in Langley, about 50 kilometres southeast of Vancouver.

The break-ins typically occurred overnight when homeowners were asleep, and usually involved the theft of small items such as wallets, cellphones, computers and chequebooks.

The news release says that on one occasion, a resident saw someone breaking into a car and restrained the suspect until police arrived.
