UEFA to decide on Zlatan Ibrahimovic ban in Champions League for red card against Chelsea

NYON, Switzerland – Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Champions League ban for a red card as Paris Saint-Germain eliminated Chelsea will be reviewed next week.

UEFA says its disciplinary panel will study the case at its March 19 meeting.

All red-card offences in UEFA matches are reviewed to possibly extend mandatory one-match bans.

Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho said Ibrahimovic had no ill intent and should be cleared to play in the quarterfinals next month.

Ibrahimovic was sent off for a late challenge on Oscar in the first half of the last-16, second-leg match on Wednesday when the match was scoreless.

PSG twice levelled to draw 2-2 after extra time and advance on the away goals rule, 3-3 on aggregate.
