Man charged in connection with Puerto Rico slaying at large

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A man wanted by authorities in Puerto Rico in connection with a homicide remains at large after he was spotted in Providence.

Rhode Island State Police say troopers saw 36-year-old Pedro Torres near the Marriott hotel in downtown Providence around 1:15 p.m. Friday.

Torres is wanted by the Puerto Rico Police Department on a charge of homicide involving a firearm. Torres is also wanted by the Providence Superior Court for failing to appear to answer a charge of possession of firearms by a fugitive.

Police say Torres should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who sees Torres should call 911 or contact the state police.
