Eleven people hurt, four critically, in Barrie, Ont house explosion

BARRIE, Ont. – Eleven people have been injured — four of them critically — in a house explosion in Barrie, Ont., about 100 km north of Toronto.

Three of the injured are reported to be children, their ages not yet known.

The blast occurred Friday night around nine o’clock in the garage and sparked a raging fire in the adjoining home (on Collette Crescent).

There’s no word yet on the cause of the explosion, but the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office has been called in to investigate.
