RCMP suspected something illegal was going on with a driver who was cruising well below the speed limit on Hwy 3 in Princeton. Turns out they were right.
Around 8:35 p.m. on Jan. 25, an RCMP traffic services patrol team stopped a brown 2005 Pontiac Sunfire.
The mounties had no trouble discovering the 23-year-old female driver from Vernon had an outstanding warrant for her arrest, but it was a police dog that sniffed out the drugs.
The canine found a small amount of marijuana, 95 separate packs of crack cocaine and a quantity of pills believed to be oxycodone hidden in the trunk compartment.
A 23-year-old female passenger is also from Vernon. Both were taken into custody on cocaine trafficking and marijuana possession charges.
