Blind Melon and Soul Asylum touring this spring; making stop in Okanagan

Blind Melon and Soul Asylum will hit the stage in Penticton in the spring.

Along with special guest Bif Naked, Blind Melon and Soul Asylum will take to the South Okanagan Events Centre stage on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, as part of “The Way Up Here” tour.

Blind Melon is returning to both stage and studio two and a half decades after the release of their first album, according to a media release.

The band has new members and new material to accompany its breakout single “No Rain,” one of the most unforgettable music videos of the 90s.

Soul Asylum is celebrating nearly four decades in the music business since the band formed in 1981.

The band’s 1992 "Grave Dancers Union" and 1995’s "Let Your Dim Light Shine" scored a platinum breakthrough for the band. Since then the 2006 release of "The Silver Lining" and 2018’s "Live from Liberty Lunch" has earned the band a loyal following and critical acclaim.

Rock star, writer and humanitarian Bif Naked continues to push the boundaries of acceptability with her unmuzzled, screaming loud presentation. Her live performances have established her as one of the most acclaimed and interesting entertainers on the rock stage.

Tickets go on sale Friday, Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. and are available online at www.ValleyFirstTix.com.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
