Parts of Valleyview Drive closed as crews work to repair damaged gas line

FortisBC crews will continue to work to repair a damaged gas line that was hit earlier today in an eastern Kamloops neighbourhood.

In a news release issued by the City of Kamloops today, Nov. 13, Kamloops Fire Rescue crews remain on site as FortisBC crews work to repair a gas line that was hit in the 1800 block of Valleyview Drive.

City officials say Valleyview Drive will remain closed between Vicars Road and Cardinal Drive for an extended period of time and possibly overnight.

Only local traffic will be allowed into the area while repairs are completed.

The City asks motorists and pedestrians to use alternate routes, and obey signage and traffic control personnel in the area.

Initially, three homes were evacuated by Kamloops fire crews after the gas line was damaged but those residents have since been allowed back into their homes.
