Portion of Valleyview Drive remains closed as FortisBC crews repair gas line

Parts of Valleyview Drive remain closed as FortisBC crews continue to work to repair a gas line that was damaged yesterday.

FortisBC estimates the repairs will be complete by 6 p.m. today, Nov. 14.

Flaggers are still onsite directing traffic to alternative routes and allowing local traffic as a portion of Valleyview Drive remains closed between Vicars Road and Cardinal Drive. There is currently one lane open with alternating traffic.

According to FortisBC, the damage to the natural gas line was caused by a third party yesterday, Nov. 13.

Initially, three homes were evacuated by Kamloops fire crews after the gas line was damaged but those residents have since been allowed back into their homes.

There are no other customers being impacted at this time.
