Plow crews to begin clearing side streets

KELOWNA – With no new snow overnight city road crews will begin focusing on clearing side streets today.

Residents and business owners are responsible for clearing their driveways, sidewalks and fire hydrants and to keep items like garbage and recycling containers off the sides of roads. They should also ensure their vehicles are not parked on the sides of roads, especially those who live in cul-de-sacs.

The city is also reminding residents to help out any neighbours who might have mobility issues.

“Not everyone is able to shovel the snow and that’s what makes being a Snow Buster the neighbourly thing to do," says COK spokesperson Tom Wilson. Snow Busters are individuals or families who help their neighbours by clearing snow from driveways and sidewalks.
