Greater Vernon water quality advisory lifted

A precautionary Water Quality Notice that was put in place for all Greater Vernon Water customers has now been lifted.

The precautionary Water Quality Notice was not a boil water notice and was first put in place in October.

According to a Regional District of North Okanagan media release, the notice has been lifted and the water is back to being treated by both the UV Facility and the Duteau Creek Water Treatment Plant. The Kalamalka Lake water source has currently been turned off as crews work to make the Kal Lake Pump House flood-resistant.

The Regional District says that the water from the Duteau Creek water is softer than Kalamalka Lake water which may be of interest to people with in-home water treatment systems or aquariums.

Ben Bulmer

After a decade of globetrotting, U.K. native Ben Bulmer ended up settling in Canada in 2009. Calling Vancouver home he headed back to school and studied journalism at Langara College. From there he headed to Ottawa before winding up in a small anglophone village in Quebec, where he worked for three years at a feisty English language newspaper. Ben is always on the hunt for a good story, an interesting tale and to dig up what really matters to the community.
