$200 reward for missing Kamloops dog grows to $1,100 as community comes together to pitch in

A Kamloops man still searching for his four-legged companion a month after it went missing is now offering an $1,100 reward for the safe return of his dog, Jake.

Dexter Laming says Jake, a cross between a Chihuahua and a Miniature Dachshund, was last seen in the Aberdeen area on Saturday, Nov. 9 on Breamer Drive.

Laming says he was out having dinner with his girlfriend when he got the call that Jake had accidentally been let out.

Since he’s been missing, Laming has received one reported sighting of Jake on Hector Drive, but has yet to find him.

The pup is seven years old and was Laming’s Christmas present several years ago. Laming who is a truck driver, says Jake even joins him on his trips occasionally.

“He accompanies me all the time. He’s a little skittish but very friendly,” he says. “When we are not in my  truck he is my shadow, he follows me.”

After turning to social media, Laming has had other dog owners contribute to his reward fund increasing it from the original $200 to $1,100.
