Pickup truck used in smash-and-grab at Kelowna sports memorabilia store

Kelowna RCMP are investigating a sports memorabilia heist where thieves used a truck to smash through a storefront.

Police were called to a break-in in the 300-block of Banks Road around 4:19 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, according to a press release from RCMP.

A white 2004 Ford F-550 flat deck was stolen ten minutes prior from a business in the 3500-block of Edwards Road and then driven through the storefront.

Police said at least two suspects grabbed a large quantity of sports memorabilia from Player’s Choice Sports then used another pickup truck to flee.

“We are asking any businesses in the area with CCTV to have a look and see if they captured this incident, along with any helpful video just prior and after the break-in,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Michael Gauthier said in the release. “Officers are still collecting evidence and this investigation remains ongoing.”

The getaway truck is also a white pickup and it was seen across the street parked beside a neighbouring business during the break-in.

Anyone with information regarding this break and enter is asked to phone the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and reference police file number 2025-3377. Tipsters can remain anonymous by contacting Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online.
