Osoyoos RCMP seek second suspect in serious assault

Osoyoos police are looking for a second man wanted in connection with a serious assault that took place in the community on Dec. 14.

Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen Regional Detachment Media Relations Officer Sgt. Jason Bayda said in a press release issued this morning, Dec. 24, the Osoyoos RCMP responded to a call of a man seriously injured in an assault on Cottonwood Drive in Osoyoos around 11:50 p.m. Dec. 14.

The 31-year-old man had been socializing with three other men and a woman at a pub prior to the assault.

The man left the pub before the others, who departed shortly after.

A block away, the man and two other men got into a fight in which the victim was struck in the head with a wine bottle.

One suspect has been identified by police as a 22-year-old man from Peachland.

"We are confident this was an isolated incident between the parties and there is no threat to the public," Bayda said. "Our officers have made good progress on this investigation and I expect the arrest of the one man will be imminent, however we are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the second involved man."

Police say the man is approximately 6'1", in his early 20s with medium length brown hair.

He may also be sporting a goatee. The suspect is slim, wears glasses and was wearing a red hoodie with the word “Obey” written in white on the front.

He was also wearing dark pants and rubber boots.

Police are asking anyone witnessing the event or those who can identify the man in the photo above, to contact the Osoyoos RCMP at 259-495-7236, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
