Be careful out there on the roads

VERNON – Police have been busy this holiday season with traffic related incidents because of treacherous roads, and poor choices.

On Friday, 23 reported motor vehicle accidents had RCMP scrambling to keep up. Each was related to the weather and resulting slippery road conditions. Though external forces could be blamed for road havoc in these incidences, a few people made choices with the potential to wreak havoc, except police intervened.

Counter Attack road checks took five impaired drivers off the road. Of the five, two received immediate 90-day roadside prohibitions, another two received immediate three-day prohibitions and the fifth, a Class 7 driver was given a 12-hour driving suspension. This person was not to have any alcohol in his system. 

Police are also reminding the public to keep valueables, including gifts purchased over the holidays out of sight, preferably locked in the trunk after a box of presents and other items were stolen from a car in the 4000 block of 29 Street. The presents were left in the car overnight December 22 and it appears thieves broke the passenger side window to obtain it.
