Surrey, B.C. Mounties investigate shooting death of Ontario teenager

SURREY, B.C. – Police in Surrey, B.C., say a teenager from Ontario is the city's latest homicide victim.

They say RCMP officers were called out Monday night to a residence on 152nd Street where they found the body of 18-year-old Keeshawn Brown.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says it believes Brown's death was an isolated event, and not related to Lower Mainland gang activity.

IHIT Detective Lara Jansen says investigators have been trying to determine how long Brown had been in B.C. as well as his activities leading up to his death.

Anyone with information about the shooting is being asked to get in touch with IHIT.

The BC Coroner’s Service is also involved in the investigation.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Dec. 28, 2019.
