Famous water skiing squirrel to perform at Vancouver Boat Show

Twiggy the World Famous Water Skiing Squirrel will be entertaining the crowds and focusing attention on water-safety at the Vancouver Boat Show.

The creature has been entertaining parents and children alike with a water ski show since 1979 and this year will be making waves for five days of the Vancouver Boat Show.

If you haven't heard of Twiggy, its Watersport adventures all got underway in  1978.

The baby squirrel was rescued after being blown from her nest during a hurricane and according to the Twiggy history section of the website, Chuck and Lou Ann Best chose to take her in and make her a part of their family.

"She greeted the kids at their local roller skating rink and went on their camping and water-skiing excursions," reads the website.

"She loved to sit on Chuck and Lou Ann's shoulders while they sat in the water. Sometimes, she would even take a dip into the river to get cooled off on a hot day."

Chuck bought his daughter a remote controlled boat for her birthday around the same time and then taught their squirrel to ski while on their river outings.

Twiggy has been performing since September of 1979, traveling all across the US, Canada, Bermuda, Europe and Germany. She has appeared in numerous books, magazines, newspapers, and television shows all over the world.

When Chuck died, Lou Ann took over and toured Twiggy IV.
She created a squirrel-sized life jacket for Twiggy which performed on "Good Morning America", "The Rosie O'Donnell Show", "The Wayne Brady Show" and "Late Night with David Letterman."

Lou Ann retired and her son, Chuck Best Jr. has decided to take on the family business and continue Twiggy’s story for Twiggy’s 40th Anniversary

Twiggy’s pool is located in West Field Endzone area (behind Kids Zone)!
