Police seize 1446 plants in Spallumcheen
SPALLUMCHEEN – Mounties dismantled a large grow-op in a rural area outside of Armstrong Tuesday.
An investigation into the possible operation in the 3300 block of Hope Drive in Spallumcheen started in October. On June 3, officers from the Vernon/North Okanagan detachment and a dog services team arrived at the residence with a search warrant in hand and found 1446 plants.
A 53-year-old man and 50-year-old woman were arrested for production of a controlled substance.
The two told police they have a production licence to grow marijuana, but a quick investigation of the claim revealed the licence was for a different address and for production of 392 plants.
All the plants were seized along with growing equipment.
B.C. Hydro was present while the warrant was executed and power was disconnected as a precaution.
Both parties were released to appear in court July 31.
