
Fatal crash closes Trans-Canada west of Golden
A four-vehicle crash this afternoon on the Trans-Canada Highway near Golden has killed one person.
RCMP say the crash at around 3:10 p.m. (Mountain Time) today, Jan. 7, involved four vehicles around 20 kilometres west of Golden on Highway 1.
Two passenger vehicles and two commercial vehicles were involved in the crash, according to an RCMP media release.
The highway is closed in both directions and police expect it to stay closed for several more hours. There is no detour around the crash.
“At this time, the cause of the collision is not known, however winter driving conditions are being considered as a possible contributing factor,” RCMP Cpl. Mike Halskov said in the release.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call Trans-Canada East Traffic Services in Golden at 250-344-2221.
