Slow down on the streets and highways in Okanagan
FRESH SNOW MAKES ROADS SLICK
KELOWNA – A car lost control on Highway 97 between Lake Country and Vernon Sunday morning thanks to the fresh snow that turned the road into a slushy, slippery mess.
Crews are out plowing and sanding, but city streets and highways are very slick.
The RCMP are asking drivers to slow down if they have to head out on the roads.
Up to 4 cm of snow is expected in the Okanagan Sunday. It started falling early in the morning.
Most of the snow fell in the morning, with flurries expected for the rest of the day.
The daytime temperatures will remain steady around 0 C for the valley according to Environment Canada.
The overnight low Sunday shouldn’t drop lower than -1 or -2 C. Just enough to turn melted snow into ice.
The North Okanagan, including Vernon, will get a 5 cm dump of snow on Monday, with the rest of the valley expecting a few flurries.
