Warming trend continues in the Okanagan this week
A wet but warmer week is in store for Okanagan residents following last week’s Arctic blast.
Environment Canada says to expect mainly cloudy skies along with a 40 per cent chance of flurries in Kelowna and Vernon this morning, Jan. 20, along with a high of 2 Celsius.
Penticton should reach a high of 5 C, with an overnight low of 3 C, along with a 40 per cent chance of showers this morning. South winds in Penticton are expected to reach 30 km/h.
Tonight, Kelowna and Vernon should see overcast skies along with 15 km/h winds and overnight temperature steady at -1 C. Penticton could see a 40 per cent chance of showers and a low of 3 C.
More clouds are expected Tuesday with periods of snow beginning in the morning and ending late in the afternoon. Kelowna and Vernon could see two to four cm. Tuesday’s high and low temperatures should reach 1 C, with a low of -3 C.
Penticton should see a few showers ending in the afternoon Tuesday followed by a mix of sun and cloud, with a high of 4 C and a low of -3 C.
A mix of sun and cloud is forecast for Wednesday with a high of 1 C. Snow is expected Wednesday night with a low of 0 C.
Thursday could see periods of snow or rain with a high to 3 C. Showers are expected Thursday night with a low to 2 C.
More showers are in the forecast for Friday, with a high of 3 C. It should remain cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of rain or flurries and a low of 1 C overnight Friday.
The weekend looks to be mainly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of flurries or showers on Saturday and Sunday, along with highs of 4 C and 3 C respectively.
The normal high and low for this time of year in the Okanagan is -2 C and -8 C.
