Kamloops RCMP catch Valleyview stabbing suspect

A man was taken to hospital and a suspect was arrested after a stabbing in Kamloops’ Valleyview neighbourhood earlier this week.

Kamloops RCMP were called to a stabbing in the 1700-block of the Trans-Canada Highway East at around 10:35 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, according to a press release from police.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim had reportedly approached a vehicle in a gas station parking lot when a confrontation happened. The assault happened shortly after outside of a nearby restaurant.

“Thanks to the quick response and investigational efforts of the responding officers, police were able to locate the vehicle and arrest a suspect,” Kamloops RCMP media liaison officer Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

The suspect is a Kamloops man who was released with a court date and conditions, and RCMP anticipate charge recommendations. Police did not reveal the identities of anyone involved.
