North Thompson woman offering cash reward for return of stolen truck, sentimental jewelry

A North Thompson woman is asking for the public’s help in locating her Dodge truck along with several other sentimental items that were stolen from her property this past weekend.

Sharon Mckay lives in Wells Gray Park just north of Clearwater and came home on Sunday, Jan. 26, to find out her home had been broken into.

“We pulled into the driveway and our Dodge Ram crew cab was stolen,” Mckay says.

After looking around a little further, Mckay said she discovered her truck wasn’t the only thing missing.

“They had broken in through the sliding door and stole all of our guns, all of our jewelry and a whole bunch of other stuff throughout the house,” she says.

Her son, who lives in Vavenby, had his truck broken into the day before and believes the thefts were connected.

“My son’s wallet was stolen and on his wallet was my address,” Mckay says.

In Mckay’s truck was also a jewelry box that had been given to her as a young girl by her late mother. The oak jewelry box was engraved at the top with ivory. Some of the jewelry included a ring with her daughter’s birthstone, necklaces, pearl earrings and more rings.

In her time living in Wells Gray, Mckay says she has never dealt with a theft.

“We have got amazing neighbours, everyone looks after each other,” she says.

Since the theft, Mckay says they have been contacted with some possible sightings, but nothing solid has turned up yet.

Not only have the thefts been a financial stress, but the emotional hit has been challenging too, she says.

“They went though everything,” she says. “Yeah it’s obviously an expensive truck but it’s more that, it was an intrusion into our home.”

Mckay says they have put up security cameras and are also offering a cash reward but aren’t making the amount public.
